Hans-Peter Folz has been Professor of European Law and Head of the Institute of European Law at the University of Graz since October 2012.
His research interests include European fundamental rights protection, institutional European law and the relationship between European Law and national law.
Hans-Peter Folz studied law in Marburg, Geneva and Munich. After graduating, he worked as a research assistant at the Universities of Bielefeld and Augsburg, among others, and received his doctorate in law. In 2004, he habilitated on the topic of Human rights and state interests in peace treaty arrangements – A study on the power of states to regulate the legal interests of their nationals under international law and received the venia legendi for Constitutional, International and European Law.
Before becoming a professor in Graz, Hans-Peter Folz worked as a deputy chair and professor at the universities of Göttingen, Munich and Seoul.
