Wir, sämtliche Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler des Zentrums für osteuropäisches Recht sowie der Institute für Völkerrecht und Internationale Beziehungen sowie für Europarecht an der Universität Graz, sind bestürzt über den völkerrechtswidrigen und unprovozierten Angriffskrieg Russlands gegen die Ukraine insbesondere die stattfindenden Verletzungen des Gewaltverbots, des Kriegsrechts und der Menschenrechte. Fassungslos darüber, dass ein fest geschlossen geglaubtes Tor zum Krieg in unserem Europa weit aufgestoßen wurde, drücken wir hiermit unsere uneingeschränkte Solidarität mit der Ukraine und allen dort vom Krieg betroffenen Menschen, vor allem auch unseren Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus. Hier geht es auch um das in der Charta von Helsinki garantierte Recht jedes europäischen Staates auf freie Wahl des politischen, sozialen, wirtschaftliche und kulturellen Systems. Unsere Sympathie gilt aber auch den Menschen in Russland sowie in Belarus, die genau wie wir nach der Hoheit des Völkerrechts und eines friedlichen Miteinander streben und von Repressionen betroffen sind. Wir wollen in diesen dunklen Stunden weiter einen offenen wissenschaftlichen Diskursraum darstellen und uns vehement gegen jede Missachtung des Rechts einsetzen. Die russische Föderation muss sich aus der Ukraine zurückziehen und gemeinsam mit der Ukraine um eine friedliche Beilegung der Streitigkeit zu bemühen.
